Submit Your FAFSA and CSS Profile to Be Considered for Aid

To receive need-based financial aid at Occidental, you must submit both the FAFSA and the CSS Profile. The FAFSA determines your eligibility for federal and state aid—and some funds are awarded on a first-come, first-served basis, so it’s best to file early. The CSS Profile provides a more detailed picture of your financial situation and helps us evaluate your eligibility for Occidental-specific aid, including grants, loans, and work-study.

Important Financial Aid Dates and Deadlines

Financial aid deadlines vary depending on whether you're a first-year applicant, transfer student, or current Occidental student. To be considered for need-based aid, you must submit all required forms by your applicable deadline. Use the accordions below to find the dates that match your situation.

 

Early Decision I by November 1

After you apply to Occidental, you will receive access to the application portal where you will be prompted to fill out a financial form.

Scholarships
This funding doesn’t need to be paid back and is provided to help make your education more affordable.
Loans
Federal student loans are included as part of your financial aid offer. They can help cover your college costs, with manageable repayment options that begin after graduation.
Work-Study

Financial Aid FAQs

To be considered for need-based aid, you must submit the FAFSA and the CSS Profile. U.S. students also submit tax documents via IDOC. International applicants must complete the International Student Financial Form through their applicant portal.

Occidental meets 100% of demonstrated financial need for all admitted U.S. citizens and permanent residents who apply for aid on time. Your need is determined by the information submitted through the FAFSA and CSS Profile. International applicants have different guidelines.

Yes. To continue receiving financial aid, all students must reapply each year by submitting updated FAFSA and CSS Profile forms, along with any required tax documents, by the stated deadline.
